Imby Doncaster held a very successful ‘Open Doncaster Cluster Meeting’ on 17th October which was the first of a series of planned meetings to be held. 26 people attended representing 17 different disability groups within Doncaster. Attendees were asked their views on key issues relating to present and future sustainability of their own group and local supporting organisations. (information available on request)

The aim of having regular cluster meetings is to enable information sharing and the opportunity to face future challenges together. Guest speakers are to be invited to promote new initiatives and services which will helps towards developing and maintaining an inclusive dynamic partnership structure relevant to the social and economic inclusion of disabled people.

There is a lot of emphasis on partnership working, not just locally but regionally and nationally too and IMBY would like explore and support the capacity of our existing cluster to build a network which can strategically influence direction and change. It will also encourage and establish stronger links with Social Firm / Enterprise development with a view for sustainability within our projects.

The next follow up meeting is scheduled for 11th December 2006 between 2 and 4pm and is to be held at Doncaster Disabled People’s Alliance. The agenda is still to be finalised but if you or anyone you know is interested in attending, get in touch with Jan on 01302 762758 Mob: 078100 25970 or email janet.roidl@imby.org.uk so you can be added to the mailing list.
